Funding criteria

Here you will find the AWF funding criteria in the fields of  Art & Culture, Social Impact, and International Engagement. Please refrain from submitting applications that do not meet the funding criteria.

Application

International Engagement
The AWF stands for accessible high-quality education in Tanzania, Ghana, and Ethiopia.

Arts and Culture
The AWF supports artists and cultural workers in Central Switzerland.

Social Impact
The AWF supports institutions in Central Switzerland in their work for marginalised people.

In the area of Arts & Culture and Social Impact, please note that the Arthur Waser Foundation currently accepts applications only from organisations based in Central Switzerland.

In the area of International Engagement, the Arthur Waser Foundation works exclusively with local partner organisations and does not accept other project proposals.

Check whether your project meets our funding criteria before submitting your application. Applications can only be submitted electronically via our application platform (see link below). Unfortunately, submissions by email or post cannot be considered.

We recommend keeping the project description short (max. 10 pages) and refraining from submitting presentations, reviews and videos. During the submission process, you will be able to save the data entered at any point of the procedure, finish at a later time and finalise the procedure by submitting your application. To enter your application we kindly ask you for a one-time registration. With your Login you will have access to all your applications.

Please fill in at least the marked mandatory fields and upload the mandatory documents. In case we require any further information or documents, we will contact you. Should you face any trouble submitting your application, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We require  a lead time of several weeks to properly review your application. Ideally, you submit your application about 6 months ahead of project implementation. The board meetings take place quarterly. Decisions are communicated in writing , within two months of the meeting.

  • Deadline for spring meeting: 21st January 2026
  • Deadline for summer meeting: 15th April 2026
  • Deadline for autumn meeting: 12th August 2026
  • Deadline for winter meeting: 21st October 2026

Applications received after the respective submission deadline will be dealt with at the following meeting. Retrospective funding and deficit coverage cannot be approved.

Endowments

As a private foundation, AWF is not dependent on donations. However, it is open to endowments and donations from private individuals who do not want to set up their own foundation. An intensive exchange of ideas must take place so that such endowments make sense for both sides and are in the mutual, philanthropic interest of both parties involved.

If you are interested in an endowment or donation, please contact AWF’s managing director.
